H.E Dr Michael Postl, the Ambassador of Austria called on YBhg Datuk Abang Haji Abdul Karim Tun Datuk Abang Hj Openg, President of Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) on Wednesday 5 February 2020 in Kuching to discuss potential bilateral cooperation. His delegation which included Mag. Reinhart Zimmermann, The Austrian Commercial Counsellor to Malaysia and Brunei, also met with SBF Council Members and local businessmen who are interested to foster economic relationships between Austrian and Malaysian firms, especially in Sarawak. The Austrian Ambassador is especially keen on exploring opportunities with the private sectors here as he acknowledged that there are many untapped potentials in Sarawak compared to that in the Peninsula. The meeting proved to be a valuable agenda for both parties as they had opportunity to exchange ideas on enhancing trade and investment in the State, especially in hydro energy, medical tourism, transportation, agri and aquaculture, logistics and other industries.
