In the session, SBF President Datuk Abang Hj Abdul Karim Tun Abang Hi Openg briefed participants on the organisational structure of SBF and its agenda. He urged his counterpart President DPMMS Datuk Ag Buhtamam bin Ag Mahmun to form the same united body for a stronger collective voice when raising issues to the government.
The SBF delegation was principally keen to look into enhancing business networking and economic ties with their Sabah counterparts.
He added, “As close neighbours, Sabah and Sarawak have many things in common and as such, it is in our interests to engage with each other on common ground for the benefit of our local business communities.”
Datuk Karim also looked forward to a return visit by the Sabah business chambers. As part of the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Delegation on its first official visit to Sabah, the SBF delegates later joined a dinner hosted by the Chief Minister of Sabah at the Spice Island, Sutera Habour Marina & Country Club.
